Body Lift at Altan Tekin Clinic, Antalya’s Leading Cosmetic Surgery Specialists.

What is a Body Lift?

Body Lift surgery is a group of procedures that remove excess skin and fat from the body to improve comfort, tone and contours. Body Lift procedures can be performed for many reasons, but loose skin and excess fat due to pregnancy, dramatic weight loss or ageing are all common concerns that lead people to consider this comprehensive body contouring surgery.

The exact techniques used during Body Lift surgery will depend on the areas being addressed and the patient’s desired outcomes. Popular areas for Body Lift procedures to target include:

  • Abdomen

  • Back

  • Breasts

  • Buttocks

  • Hips

  • Thighs

  • Arms

During your initial consultation, your surgeon will discuss your concerns and goals to decide which areas of the body should be included in your Body Lift surgery.

What are the Options for Body Lift Surgery?

Depending on your concerns and desired results, there are several Body Lift procedures which effectively and comprehensively reduce excess fat and loose skin to improve the tone and contours of the body.

Upper Body Lift

An Upper Body Lift targets the upper torso, breasts, back, arms, and armpit areas to create a lean and smooth upper body silhouette. Typically, Upper Body Lift procedures include:

  • Upper Back Lift – Also known as a Bra Line Back Lift, an Upper Back Lift removes excess skin and fat from the upper back, above the bra line including around the axilla area (the armpits). Discrete incisions are made to remove excess skin through surgical excision, and Liposuction is used to extract stubborn fat deposits. The incisions are then closed, resulting in smooth back contours.

  • Arm Lift – Also called a Brachioplasty, Arm Lift surgery involves removing excess skin and fat from the upper arms to address hanging skin, sometimes known as bingo wings. Incisions are made along the upper arm, and loose skin is excised before the incision is closed. Liposuction can also be used to enhance the final result.

  • Breast LiftAlso known as a Mastopexy, a Breast Lift removes loose skin from the breasts and lifts their position on the chest to address sagging breasts. Incisions are made in the crease under the breast to allow excess skin to be removed. The remaining breast tissue is then repositioned, and the incisions are closed, resulting in lifted breasts. Breast implants can also be used to increase the volume of the breast, known as Augmented Mastopexy.

Upper Body Lift is a comprehensive surgical procedure which enhances the appearance of the upper body. It is most suited to patients whose concerns are around the upper portion of their torso and who don’t have concerns about their abdomen or thighs.

Lower Body Lift

A Lower Body Lift, also known as a Belt Lipectomy, targets areas of the body that are below the natural waistline. This includes the abdomen, hips, lower back, buttocks and thighs. These areas are often cosmetically affected by dramatic weight loss or pregnancy, so Lower Body Lift procedures are often highly popular. Lower Body Lift surgery usually includes:

  • Tummy Tuck – Also known as an Abdominoplasty, Tummy Tuck removes loose skin from the upper and lower abdomen and tightens the abdominal muscles. There are several variations on the traditional Tummy Tuck, and your surgeon will discuss the best option for you during your consultation. An Extended Tummy Tuck is a popular option as this extends the targeted area around the body to the hips and lower back, enhancing the result. Another popular option is the Brazilian Abdominoplasty which includes Liposuction to remove excess fat from the abdomen, creating smooth abdominal contours.

  • Lower Back Lift – A Lower Back Lift removes excess skin and fat from the lower back and hips to create a streamlined silhouette. Discrete incisions are made around the hips to allow the skin to be tightened and excess skin to be removed. The incisions are then closed to create a new, smooth lower back contour.

  • Buttock LiftA Buttock Lift addresses sagging buttocks by removing excess skin and restoring the natural position of the buttocks. Incisions are made in the lower crease of the buttocks to reduce visible scarring. Excess skin is removed, and the buttocks are lifted into their new position. If the volume of the buttocks is a concern, Fat Transfer can be carried out as part of a Brazilian Butt Lift.

  • Thigh Lift – Loose sagging skin around the thighs can be uncomfortable and may affect the way fitted trousers and jeans look. A Thigh Lift removes excess skin and fat from the inner and outer thighs, creating a smooth streamlined contour to the upper leg. Incisions are made down the thighs and the skin is tightened. Liposuction can also be used to remove excess fat.

A Lower Body Lift is typically suited to patients who have experienced dramatic weight loss, or pregnancy and have been left with loose skin and excess fat around the abdomen. A Lower Body Lift is also known as a Belt Lipectomy as it focuses on tackling concerns around the belt line.

Full Body Lift

A Full Body Lift, sometimes known as a Full Body Tuck, combines the Upper and Lower Body Lift procedures and techniques. This is often suited to patients who are experiencing loose skin or stubborn fat deposits following weight loss, as fat loss across the body can have a widespread impact. When weight is gained the skin has to stretch to accommodate the increase in fat. When the excess fat is lost, the skin cannot always return to its original position, leaving stretched or excess skin. This can be exacerbated by losing large amounts of weight very quickly. A Full Body Lift comprehensively and effectively addresses concerns across the entire body.

360 Body Lift

360 Body Lift refers to combining Body Lift techniques to address concerns that affect the full circumference of the body. A 360 Upper Body Lift will include procedures such as a Breast Lift and an Upper Back Lift to target the full scope of the body. In comparison, a 360 Lower Body Lift will address the abdomen, hips, lower back and/or buttocks to enhance the contours of the whole lower circumference of the body.

Why Do People Have a Body Lift?

A Body Lift is designed to address a range of functional and medical concerns and can also deliver several aesthetic improvements:

Medical reasons:

  • To remove excess skin and tissue following major weight loss, which can cause irritation, infections, or restricted mobility.

  • To improve comfort, posture, and hygiene by eliminating redundant folds around the abdomen, thighs, and buttocks.

  • To restore tissue support and symmetry after trauma, surgery, or significant body changes.

Aesthetic reasons:

  • To create smoother, firmer contours of the lower body, enhancing overall shape and proportion.

  • To achieve a more toned and lifted appearance around the abdomen, hips, and buttocks.

  • To improve confidence in clothing and restore body harmony after weight loss or ageing.

The Cost of a Body Lift

Who Is Suitable for Body Lift Surgery?

Your surgeon will decide whether you are suitable for Body Lift surgery during your consultation. They will discuss your concerns, your desired outcomes, and your reasons for wanting a Body Lift. They will then examine you and make sure you are fit and well for a general anaesthetic procedure. They will also take your medical history and discuss your general physical and mental health.

Your surgeon will discuss whether you are suitable for Body Lift surgery as part of your consultation. Following your appointment, your surgeon will write up your bespoke surgical treatment plan, and send your notes through to your personal advisor so they can discuss the plan, pricing and dates with you.

What are the Benefits of Body Lift procedures?

Body Lift surgery is highly beneficial, and many patients find it improves their quality of life and well-being:

  • Reduced loose skin – Body Lift procedures target loose skin from all areas of the body, improving comfort and mobility, and reducing skin irritation

  • Improved comfort and hygiene – Some patients find that having excess loose skin can cause discomfort through rubbing or make maintaining hygiene challenging. Body Lift surgery reduces skin rubbing and improves the ease of hygiene.

  • Reduced stubborn fat – Many Upper and Lower Body Lift procedures utilise Liposuction alongside skin reduction techniques to remove stubborn fat and enhance the final results

  • Enhanced body proportions – Loose skin and concerns such as sagging breasts or buttocks can affect mobility and posture, or make the body look out of proportion. Body Lift surgery rebalances the body's proportions, in turn addressing back and muscle pain caused by poor posture

  • Long-lasting, natural results – Cadogan Clinic’s surgeons prioritise patient safety and outcomes at every stage of a procedure. A key element of this is ensuring the surgical result is flattering to the body and is long-lasting to ensure the patient’s goals are met over the long term.

  • High-quality surgical care – Cadogan Clinic provides the highest standards of patient care at all stages. At our last inspection, the CQC awarded us an overall rating of Good, with our leadership rated Outstanding. We offer 24 hour recovery and aftercare support following your Body Lift procedures and you will be supported throughout your surgical journey.

The Risks of a Body Lift

Your surgeon will assess your personal risk during your consultation and may ask you to prepare in a certain way to ensure the best results possible. All surgical procedures carry some risk and it is important to understand this ahead of making a final decision about your surgery.

The complications your surgeon will make you aware of are:

  • Hematoma - This is the build-up of blood beneath the skin and will require treatment from your surgeon

  • Poor wound healing - Healing complications or infection can affect the incision sites

  • Asymmetry - Occasionally, one side of your body may appear a different size or shape to the other following Body Lift. This may be a temporary part of the healing process or may be longer-term

  • Seroma - This is the formation of a lump under the skin caused by build up of fluid around the incision sites. This will require treatment from your surgeon.

  • Excessive bleeding

  • Allergic reaction to general anaesthetic

  • Infection at the surgical site

  • Deep vein thrombosis (blood clot in a vein)
